Car industry is one of the most dynamic and competitive, where the “speed” of technological innovation is very high.

The first reason is the safety of passengers. In the horizontal of auto industry are thousands of businesses that contribute to the final product. The main targets for engineers and designers in the automotive industry are: performance and security for travelers. Although in recent years this sector was in crisis due to global economic situation, it seems that recovery and investments in the field begin to grow.

In addition the auto industry involve other industries and companies providing related services: car dealers, service and gasoline stations, car rental companies, insurance brokers, manufacturers of auto parts and accessories or tuning companies.

Global economic crisis has affected both the global auto industry and the other related industries: auto parts, car accessories or auto rental business. Car hire companies are primarily influenced by the evolution of tourism and global business.

A person can rent a car for at least two reasons: business or tourism. This two sectors have been affected by the economic crisis such as car rental industry, affected by successive reductions: 19% – 2008 15% –  2009 and 7% – 2010.
For the first time after three years of decline, 2011 seems promising with an estimated growth of 16% in rent a car businesses.

The reasons for which are rented cars:
- The tourists who rent a car in order to provide a means of transport. Usually tourists rent the car right in the airport of destination for a few days.
- For business, by companies or independent businessmen. Businesses can rent the car (or fleet cars) for the short or long term.
- People who have a damaged car in service and need a car for mobility.

Car rental business growth depends on both tourism and business development, that will drive also in boost of new car acquisitions.
